The insidious censorship of the climate disaster unfolding in cable news and other outlets shows the way the illusion of free speech coexists with a rigid (often self-imposed) regime of censorship even in the face of global catastrophe…
We had a post today about 4C temperature change. The public is generally unaware of the catastrophic outcome there: there is a series of videos on each stage from 2C to 6C…The latter is virtually terminal but 4C would in the end be as bad as the higher temperature inevitably moves to a higher level…
Industrial agriculture and the climate crisis are responsible for this ecological collapse, but it’s not too late for transformative change, says Scott Edwards of Food and Water Watch
The inability of those captured by modern capitalism to see their position is almost astonishing. The hold of ideology is gruesome…But the saddest past is the failure of the critics of capitalism and the way marxists have created a new mythology that has captured the left and rendered it paralyzed. We have suggested that a new and simpler critique of capitalism is needed with a practical exit strategy, whether revolutionary or evolutionary. At this point it seems that the revolutionary solution is impossible given the powers that be while the evolutionary path is too little too late. Checkmate?
The planet’s biggest nightmare is coming to life. It may be a bigger threat much sooner than ever before realized simply because it’s accelerating!

My support for the GND is double-edged, with a warning, made clear by the capitalist trash/rag Forbes, that it is apparently unlikely to happen and will actually destroy progressive change as the right leverages the idea for the ‘base’, and the phalanx of idiots emboldened by trump.
As noted here many times, our last years of a tolerable climate require a revolutionary solution however difficult of seemingly improbable.
We are about to lose a planet: what’s the deal with a GND that is a fantasy we still have a legislative government?
The Green New Deal aspires to nothing short of a wholesale re-imaging of our national economy, including the elimination of U.S. carbon emissions, creation of single-payer healthcare and guaranteed income. All of this would be accomplished in the space of a decade with taxpayer dollars.
The left has tended to miss the sad part of this fascinating wave of strikes: the damage done by Macron to the climate activism movement by pitting ecological action against working class perspectives. The reaction was the complete rejection of the climate change aspect toward traditional working class protest.
The left needs to scramble to counterbalance their thinking and to include explicit analysis of the elite exploitation of climate change for austerity economics, and offer their own proposals (they in fact have already) to meet wage demnands in context of demanding equal measure against elites. To put working class activism in collision with climate activism would be a colossal tragedy…
