This engaging book is still unfortunately in the historical materialism zone, which is fatal for the socialist left at this point. (the book is as usual overpriced). Unless Marxists can become ex-Marxist neo-socialists with a new perspective on history, consciousness and some kind of neo- approach they will be permanently sidelined. Times have changed, culture has changed, and the old formulas of Marx have been outflanked by new movements, e.g. the New Age movement or movements, and/or the persistent domination of Christianity. A new strategy is needed: consider The Last Revolution….
