The effort to turn Marx into an ecosocialist is understandable in his fans, but the whole effort misses the point: the left needs to start over and recast the whole subject and not try to prove that Marx ‘knew it all along’.
It is also another way to make marxist thinking infallible and dogmatic.
That an ecological perspective is implicit in the critique of capitalism is true enough, but in the end the left will be better served by seeing the obvious: the legacy of Marx did almost nothing in the way of ecosoialism.
