Failure to take into account the ‘eonic effect’

Man has a long way to go before he becomes free from his own history and the social sciences can’t even begin to approach the data of the eonic effect (whose interpretation is still another difficult task) whose implications are ominous: virtually all the great advances of history are correlated with the eonic sequence and as we seem to be ending this ‘tutelage’ from macrohistory the dangers of false autonomy remain. But then again, we have no choice to do otherwise: we are on our own, at least so we suspect…
