The eonic effect as the key to historical  ‘metanarratives’

The conflict of hegel and marx was in many ways a misfortune for the left because of the way marx got caught up in the tide of the post-hegelian attacks on hegel. It led to an extreme overreaction and the imposition of something worse: marx’s stages of production theory which is a kind of reductionist version of historical scientism.
