Sloganizing ‘socialism’ in a void

The issue of socialism is up in the air: a socialist society requires a very difficult exercise in the analysis of multiple social components. And that requires more than just sloganizing abstract terms: ‘socialism’. The left has set itself up to let rightists point to bolshevism as promoting ‘socialism’ (or communism), and even of talking about leninism as some kind of precursor. The strategy is hopeless wrong and threatens to preempt the project altogether, it hasn’t done so already…
