Although it is hard to change gears and adopt a new view, especially given the controversial character of the macro model (…), it is important to at least withdraw from theories as such and move into an empirical history that can inform action without decreeing a theory about history.
The macro model stretches between ultra-simple and arcane and it also enforces the discipline of careful study of the facts of the case. In the ultra-simple version, we see a progression of epochs, basically a timeline, a rough sense of the sources of tradition, medievalism, and modernity, with a way
to mediate what we might call the Kantian antinomy of teleological judgment: we can assess history as a mediated teleological contradicted: it is teleological and not teleological. What does that mean?
Actually, we don’t have to fully conclude anything: history shows directionality but our free agency can
remain autonomous inside that process.

Further in the model shown, i.e. a discrete/continuous system, we have the invaluable property that the macro effect shuts down in our recent past, leaving us as free agents. No other model has this property, and the model shows a close match to the facts that history shows, so puzzling to historians who operate with conventional assumptions.

This model requires careful study and in my interpretation I would claim that capitalism and communism emerge in tandem at a critical turning point. Our system provides two potentials and then stops.

That’s why the ‘end of history’ argument of Fukuyama is so pernicious: it makes us think that capitalism is ordained by historical law, and that is false. And we could be dead.

This, as one can see, is a simpler and more coherent version of the marxist claim that communism will cap the end of capitalism. The theory is false. We could end up dead waiting for the switch.

Rather, we must mediate a pair of opposites to realize the dialectical outcome. And we must, as
we can see, act soon, because the capitalist mainline is heading into destruction…
