This discussion is reasonable enough but in the final analysis so-called communism isn’t any better than capitalism: we need to define very carefully what we mean by the term and give it a new name so we wont get stuck in past failure.
The attempts so far were incredibly stupid and could not properly analyze markets, democracy, or economic history. We are forced to kneel before Marx, but his theories are grossly flawed. We have used the term ‘neo-communism to make it clear we aren’t forced to defend the bolshevik version, a totally futile blind alley. Pitting capitalism at its worst against bolshevism at its best still fails: MacDonald’s land still wins, hamburger madness land still wins, best to just start over. What is communism? Noone, not Marx, not Lenin, and not the pack of idiots on the left since Trotsky has ever really defined what the term should mean. Marxism is notably deficient on this point and has created a hopeless mess of the idea. The left has to define in advance a system that can really work. If you don’t stalinists will take over and produce another idiot attempt at state capitalism. It is not that hard so why is the current left totally incompetent in their own subject?
